If you speak to any parent they are always trying to teach their children to behave better, speak politely and teach them about eating less sugar and more vegetables. However, come school mornings when we are rushed off our feet, we grab the most convenient food for our kids which is often causing our children to behave this way.
Packaged food on the supermarket shelves is perhaps the most purchased product with families as it is quick and easy. However on close inspection of ingredients perhaps we should be a little more organised.
Once a week do a cook up and or a sort so that the kids can easily see what to grab. You could even teach the kids about protein, carbs, and healthy fats by labelling containers and storing the correct ingredient in the containers.
This is also a good practice for adults when getting their own lunches ready for work. It doesn’t take long and you don’t need to complicate it with labels and fancy little containers, but make it happen. Even just start with ONE container at first and move on from that each week.
End result is less confusion in the mornings, healthier and well-mannered children and they are learning for the future what food is what macro and what effects it has on the daily energies. Teaching them to eat better and be more prepared long into their adult life.
